So, What's A Zarley?

My first real post has to be about my puppy, Zarley. He is a Shiloh Shepherd, the "modern-day German Shepherd" -- its a German Shepherd cross-bred to a Malamute line. They are bred for size, a family temperament, and for removing the hip dysplasia that is common with shepherds.

Everywhere we go, people ask "what kind of dog is he"... "is he part wolf" ... "what do you feed that horse"....

Zarley was named after Zarley Zalapski, 1st round draft choice of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1986.

Very nice dog. I've been after one of those for awhile now. They are pretty expensive dogs. I think they are beautiful though

The Shiloh Shepherd is not a German Shepherd cross-bred to a Malamute line. For information about the Shiloh Shepherd, please visit http://www.shilohshepherds.org/

Sandra, thanks for your 2 cents but I feel my description is more than sufficient for the average (read: normal) person. Forgive me for not having the time or inclination to provide the 30-page long-winded description of the origin of the breed.

I have tried to go to the site you mention numerous times, but I cannot get past the Christian Corner -- trying to combine a canine web site with a site about Christian beliefs does a dis-service to both initiatives, imho.

Instead, how about commenting on how handsome my young lad is?

It is a shame that you can't get past the Christian Corner...you might learn something.

Its a shame that people like "sandra/anonymous" are so ignorant and intolerant.

How dare she think that I need to learn something? How dare she think that she has the answers and I do not? Why does she think that I even care?

If you really do believe in and follow the teachings of Jesus, you should take a deep look in the mirror and ask youself where you went off the path.

Tina, Zarley came from BlueMoon Shilohs, Summer/Beo 2003. We purchased him as a pet, not wanting to commit to the show dog circus. But he soon became much more than just a pet, as I'm sure you've heard many times before!

I have thousands of photos of Zarley -- a few of my favorites are here... http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bobz_2000/album?.dir=7b4f
